Yannick De Serre

Yannick De Serre

Yannick De Serre is an up-and-coming young artist with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Laval University in Quebec, Canada.  After earning his degree in 1999, he participated in a number of professional exhibitions in Quebec City.  Following his move to Montreal in 2008, he staged a solo exhibition,  L’Art prêt-à-porter, at the Quartier Libre gallery in March 2009.  All of his works have been inspired by and developed using fashions by Quebec designers.  Generally speaking, they consist in interpreting the human body through the incorporation of clothing into his paintings, which do not seek to mask the fashions but rather to create from their seams, weaves and fabrics.
Geneviève Lévesque of Artêria Inc. now represents the artist worldwide.  In November 2009,  his works were exhibited at ArteClasicà in Argentina.  In 2010, he will be part of the New York  Art Fair.  Last February, the Conseil des Arts de Montréal selected him for a group exhibition celebrating Black History Month. As of this fall, his works will also be exhibited at Montreal’s Hôtel Gault
