Biography
Born on a farm, Marie-Geneviève Pilon, 88 Queen St.’s young founder, has an unconditional love of nature and animals that dates back to her earliest childhood. Following her studies, she worked in fashion design for Buffalo, as well as in jewellery design and floral arrangement. Having travelled extensively and lived in large cities, she always felt something was missing from the trendy world of fashion: a philosophy of life…depth. But since her passion for fashion design remained stronger than ever, Genny decided to launch her own clothing line, which she named 88 Queen St…her nod to the old Victorian home that houses her workshop. Increasingly well known, Genny’s label has become a pioneer in recycled fashion distinguished by a line of creative clothing reflecting the designer’s ecological awareness.

	Spring-summer 2011 collection
88 Queen St. is a company that revamps and redesigns exclusive fashion wear from recycled fabrics and forgotten clothing. Nonconformist, 88 Queen St. encourages today’s young women to be original, and express themselves in a healthy, positive and stylish manner. Respect for humanity, the environment and animals are values that 88 Queen St. promotes through fashions that are both urban and edgy, providing a gentle balance between urban living and nature. The spring 2011 collection effectively reflects this philosophy. Fluid, unstructured lines, daring colours and rebel mixes: this line highlights a young woman’s charm. What’s more, drawing its inspiration from music and vintage elements, 88 Queen St. presents an interesting take on ethical fashion.
